How to make Apple Crumble with Digestive Biscuits

I love me some apple crumble and I love to make it nice and quick. It’s one of my favourite desserts and I get very impatient for it. So rather than use flour, I use digestives biscuits for the crumble.  A nice helping with some very hot custard would be a right treat. Hmmm….Yummy!

Here I will show you just how quick and very easy to make this delicious soulful apple crumble.

Ingredients

350g Bramley apples

100g Demerara sugar

75g Soften butter

400g Digestive biscuits

Preparation time 10 minutes                                                      Cooking time 25-30 minutes

Preheat Oven to Gas Mark 5/375F/190c

Peel and chop the apples and arrange in a clear Pyrex dish

Sprinkle the Demerara sugar evenly over the apples

Place in the oven and cook for 10 minutes

Meanwhile, in a bowl begin to crush the digestives (use a pestle or any spice jar upside down)

Add 75g of butter (room temperature)

Stir the butter into the crushed biscuits until crumble forms

Set crumble mix aside and remove cooked apple from oven

Distribute the crumble over the apples

Use a spatula to pat down the crumble

Place back in oven and bake for 25-30 minutes or until toasted golden

Serve with custard
